Nest DC Serving Community

Neighbors Helping Neighbors: Food Drive with SOME

Let's fight hunger right here in our community.

We’re teaming up again with SOME (So Others Might Eat), a local nonprofit fighting hunger and poverty, to host a neighborhood food drive right here in the Bloomingdale neighborhood of Washington, DC. This time, we’re offering a few flexible ways to take part, even if you can’t make it in person. Join us in caring for our city, one bag at a time.

Sunday, August 2nd

9 AM–12 PM

Nest DC HQ | 87 Florida Ave NW

You've Got Two Ways to Get Involved

1. Drop off food donations

Sunday, August 2nd between 9:00 AM–12:00 PM at 87 Florida Ave NW
Look for the building with the big orange bird. Our team will be there to greet you. Swing by the Bloomingdale

Farmer's market after for some local goodies!

Can't make it on Sunday? Feel free to drop off donations at our office ahead of time Mon–Thurs from 9:00 AM–5:00 PM when our team is in! If you have any questions, feel free to call our office or email mimi@nest-dc.com.

2. Donate funds and let us shop for you

Prefer to give that way? You can donate funds through PayPal, and our team will handle grocery runs for the drive.

Donate your grocery funds by Friday, July 31st here

Every donation makes a difference. These food items are especially helpful right now:

  • Meals in a can (such as chili, beef stew, spaghetti)
  • Cereal
  • Ramen noodles
  • Canned proteins (such as chicken, salmon, tuna)
  • Canned vegetables, no added sodium (such as beans)
  • Canned fruit (in its own juice or water)
  • Healthy snacks
  • Low sodium soup

To make sure your gift goes straight to a neighbor’s table:

  • Please check that food items are unopened and within their “best by” date
  • Clothing should be laundered and in good condition
  • Household items should be gently used or new
